The EPAC established in January 2013, in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at University of Houston, where Centrepoint Energy served as the founding company. The purpose of the Consortium is to increase the university-industry collaborations in solving the current and future power and energy challenges via development of viable computational techniques and mathematical models and benefiting from the available smart grid data.

Membership in the Consortium is voluntary and open to any public or private organization active in the energy industry.
